Maggie Marton is an award-winning pet journalist based in Bloomington, Indiana. Publications include NationalGeographic.com, Pet Enthusiast Magazine, Pet Age Magazine, Bust Magazine, Bloom Magazine, and the FIDO Friendly blog, among others. She contributes a monthly column to Pet Age Magazine. In 2012, she wrote Clicker Dog Training: The Better Path to a Well-Behaved Pup, a how-to dog training ebook.

Maggie has been a guest on Bark Radio and the Pit Bulletin Legal Network, and has been profiled on several dog-related and animal-welfare websites and blogs including Animal Wellness and (forthcoming) Dog Fancy. She writes a dog blog, Oh My Dog!, which has been mentioned in The New York Times and was named DogTime Media’s Best Dog Blog.

Active in animal-welfare, she served on the Board of Directors for the Monroe County Humane Association, and she worked with Indy Pit Crew, a pit bull education and advocacy organization. Her dog Emmett is a therapy dog, registered through Pet Partners, and they work together in reading programs and with the children residents of a mental health facility. Because of his hard work, he was featured on the Iams website, and the story was picked up by newspaper outlets nationwide.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in anthropology, studying primate behavior, then her master’s degree in writing from the Johns Hopkins University. Currently, Maggie lives in Indiana with her husband, John; Emmett, a Staffordshire bull terrier mix; Lucas, a shepherd mix; Cooper, a pit bull terrier mix; and Newt, the lone kitty (who runs the show).
