I am a certified dog trainer via the Victoria Stilwell Academy (VSA-CDT), a Separation Anxiety Pro Trainer (Julie Naismith) and I am currently undertaking several behaviour courses (OFQUAL) among others through the DoGenius institute. I also have a number of various different courses in topics like puppy classes, reactivity, relaxation protocols and more. I have a range of experience having trained my own dogs to a high standard, plus having worked with dogs in the UK, Denmark and the US. In the US I volunteered at a no-kill rescue where I walked and trained dogs, but I was also an adoption counselor assessing and matching dogs to the right home. I am a member of the UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter and The Pet Professional Network.
My journey to become a dog trainer started when I lost my previous dog that I was doing IGP with (obedience, tracking, protection). Before losing her, I would help in dog training classes at the club where I trained my own dog.
Losing my dog made me think that I would never own another dog because I was so devastated, but it soon became clear to me that I couldn’t live without dogs. I started volunteering at a rescue and quickly discovered that I was good at working with the dogs and I had a real passion for it. When working at the rescue I would be involved in walking and training the dogs. In addition I was an adoption counsellor helping to assess and place the dogs in their new homes.
When I moved to England, I found a trainer where I signed up for a dog training class with my new dog, Sadie. Since then I got more involved and ended up working with this trainer – Cotswold Hound in Cheltenham. I have worked with group training and 1-2-1 sessions and also remote sessions. I started my own business out of Denmark in spring 2023 where I am now offering primarily remote sessions and support especially for separation anxiety.
My specialties are:
• Separation Anxiety
• German Shepherds
• Adolescent Dogs
• Hyperactive dogs
• Loose lead/leash walking
• Recall training
My goal is to help dogs and humans build foundations for good relationships. This makes training so much easier and life together much more fun and enjoyable. My training methods are free from fear, pain, and force, and they are based on science and my belief that dogs are sentient beings and that we should treat them as such.
