Alex grew up in North Devon with family dogs ranging from terriers to Labradors and a Rhodesian ridgeback. However, his journey into dog training didn’t start until years later, with a deeply personal mission: to help his Romanian rescue dog, Kip.
An anxious boy with big feelings about the world, Kip’s reactivity saw Alex turn to social media for help. However, many of the training tips and quick fixes the algorithm sent his way didn’t sit right with him. Guidance from a professional behaviourist, however, transformed his approach.
This experience became the cornerstone of his philosophy – a relationship-first approach that provides dog guardians with the tools and knowledge to help their dogs deal with situations they find uncomfortable – and the driving force behind Kip’s Canine Club.
In addition to 1-2-1 training sessions, Alex offers bespoke behaviour consultations designed to address each dog-guardian team’s unique needs, always using force-free methods and irrespective of breed or background. That said, Alex has a soft spot for sensitive rescue dogs and a special interest in reactivity cases.
With a lived experience as both guardian and advocate for a dog with complex needs, Alex’s approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and a deep belief that every dog – and every relationship – is worth nurturing with patience and care.
