I have been an avid animal lover since I was little. I have lived with cats all of my life and I didn't get the chance to live with dogs until late elementary school/early middle school. That's when my love for animals grew even more and I began owning small pocket pets and some exotic pets as well. I have always been fascinated with animal behavior. In 2015 I started volunteering for a local rescue. This is where I got hands-on experience with a wide variety of dogs. I saw super friendly dogs, dogs who were some level of human or dog aggressive, and dogs who were severely under-socialized to the world.
In 2019 I started my own pet-sitting and dog-walking business where I was exposed to even more dog breeds and behaviors. I have been dog training as a hobby for years and only focused on my own dogs and sometimes my pet-sitting client dogs. My first 3 dogs were rescues with varying behavior issues. Anything from handling issues, reactivity to strangers, and even having been severely socialized to the world. These pups shaped my mechanics and how I approach fearful dogs and dogs who need help handling the big world, especially if they were never exposed to that during their primitive puppy weeks. These pups are the ones who made me want to deep dive into dog behavior and how they learn and perceive the world.
Since 2020 I have been attending seminars, conferences, and webinars, and have read dozens of books regarding animal learning, behavior, and dog-centric topics such as fear, resource guarding, aggression, and various other topics. In 2021 I enrolled in Victoria Stilwell Academy to make sure I had a sound understanding of the basics such as; learning theory, puppy development, how dogs perceive the world, common behavior problems and how to troubleshoot them, and so much more. As a current online graduate from the Victoria Stilwell Academy, I still am continuing my education with more courses in the future, conferences, seminars, and scientific papers. Continuing education is very important to me, so I know I have the best knowledge when handling each guardian and dog case. As of 2022, I began volunteering with another local rescue where I primarily focus on behavior modification for both dogs and cats to help them handle the shelter environment and be more adoptable.
Helping guardians develop the skillset to help their dogs become confident, healthy, happy companions is my passion. I currently still provide pet sitting services as well as training services so I can be an option for dogs and cats who have behavior issues and need an experienced and knowledgeable person to provide care for them in the least stressful way possible. Presently, I accept a wide range of behavior-related cases, however, I do really enjoy working with puppies, adolescent dogs, and rescue dogs. I offer in-home training opportunities, pet sitting, dog walking, happy vet visits, and in the future virtual training sessions. When I'm not pet sitting, volunteering, or training client dogs, I enjoy training my own dogs as well as doing training with my cats and birds! If I'm not training, I enjoy going on hikes with my dogs, caring for my house plants, gaming, and spending time with my family.
