Hi! I’m Nadja Juliana Wiese. Thank you for visiting my profile!
I am a dog trainer in Seattle, Washington. I offer in person and virtual custom training sessions, as well as online group coaching, and classes. My love for animals started at a very young age, developed into a passion, and ultimately became my life's work. I have dedicated the last 20 years to caring for client's cats and dogs with my dog walking and pet sitting business, Rain City Dog Walks.
Those many years spent working with animals made me realize that my true passion is helping to improve the lives and relationships of dogs and their people by building trust, communication and understanding.
My main goals when working with a client are to help you:
• Understand how your dog learns and communicates, what drives behavior and how you can better teach her skills to succeed.
• Understand how to manage the environment in a way that gives your dog the best chance of success.
• Understand how your dog's genetics affect her behavior and how you can help meet her needs.
• Understand your dog as an individual and what makes her tick.
I am a Victoria Stilwell Academy graduate and a Certified Family Dog Mediator via Kim Brophey’s L.E.G.S.® Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation® Professional Course.
I only use the most modern, humane and effective dog training methods. I employ positive-based operant and classical conditioning techniques. There will be no leash or other physical corrections, no choke/prong/shock collars, and no yelling or intimidation during any interaction with your dog - or you for that matter!
If we work together, you will likely meet my demo dog Max or see him starring in training videos. He’s a Border Collie who sometimes struggles in our urban environment. He was my motivation to learn as much as I can about training and behavior - and he is a very good boy!
My training specialties are:
Puppies:
I will help you take full advantage of your puppy's socialization period and work on foundation skills. The work we do in puppyhood will help you get a head start on his adolescence.
Adult Dogs:
Keep training for added fluency on skills such as calm greetings, loose leash walking, recall, and behaviors custom to your lifestyle.
Happy Vet and Grooming:
Does your dog shut down or stress out at vet or grooming visits? Do you avoid making appointments? I can help prepare both of you for necessary visits and procedures and relieve some of your pup's stress and overwhelm.
Reactivity:
Does your dog bark, lunge, whine or overreact more often than you would like? I've been there! Reactivity is very personal to me due to living with sensitive Border Collies in an urban environment! I can help teach you and your pup to manage the overwhelm caused by challenging situations and environmental triggers.
Fear and Anxiety:
Is your dog fearful of novel or random things? Our rapidly changing -especially urban - environments can be scary for dogs! I can help you and your pup work through some of the overwhelm to live a more peaceful life.
