I think I am getting through to Cyril at last, he didn't go for a walk yesterday because I had a blow up of FMS, I could barely stand and struggled to walk round the house and feed the dogs. Thank goodness for ready meals.
Today I took him and Bonnie on the field, he had to investigate who had been there before him but this is usual, if I keep walking and throw the ring for Bonnie he comes running after us. I find this better than expecting him to come to call as soon as he gets on the field.
They had a good run and Cyril was showing signs of being tired, we had quite a few people walking through the field then, all on their own, as soon as one got through another came. We were away from the path so I picked up the end of the long line and shortened it, both of them were put in a sit and to wait until I told them they could move. I was so pleased with Cyril, apart from the last one, think that was the 5th, he stayed until I said he could move. The last one he got fed up and moved away.
He doesn't get as hyper now either apart from this morning because he didn't have his run yesterday. It is rare he misses his walkies and when possible I take him to some woods so he can investigate the different smells.
It has seemed a long time in coming but I think I am getting through to him at last I still get the puppy look when he has done something he shouldn't, at least he is improving. He has been the hardest dog I have had to teach.
