Do you want to show your compassion for dogs and other animals that may be hurt, scared, mistreated, or neglected? You can find many ways to take action on behalf of animals and their wellbeing.
Getting started
First, spread the word that positive training creates happy and healthy dogs that are better-equipped to cope in the domestic world we’ve brought them into!
These two important dog-related issues also need your help and attention all over the world:
- Breed-specific legislation that allows for dogs to be ripped away from responsible owners.
- Puppy mills that breed unsocialized and sick puppies for profit. When you advocate for better treatment of dogs, you are helping to reduce the number of dogs that are treated poorly and who may later become a liability or a bite risk.
Kids can help
People of all ages can be effective and powerful animal advocates. Kids and teens, for example, can raise money for a local rescue group, by holding a toy or donation drive at school or with neighbors and friends. Sell lemonade in the summer, hot chocolate in the winter. Create and sell crafts they’ve made. Fundraising ideas are as limitless as is the imagination of our children.
