Save Lennox

On the 19th May 2010, Lennox, a five year old American Bull dog Labrador cross was wrongfully seized by Belfast City Council Dog Wardens from his loving family home where he lives with his owners and his kennel mates. Lennox committed no crime nor did any member of the public complain about him.

Lennox’s family have done more than required by the law as responsible dog owners who also foster dogs for various Northern Ireland dog shelters. When Lennox was a puppy his owners had him neutered, licensed, insured, DNA registered, Pet Safe registered and micro chipped and although the Belfast City Council have issued a dog licence for Lennox for the last five years and continue to do so today, the Council now find the need to class him as a Pit Bull type dog and euthanize him.

I have personally joined the fight to bring Lennox back to his loving home, having spoken at length by phone with his owner.  After discussing the situation, I came away thoroughly impressed with what responsible dog owners Lennox's family are.  I also developed an appreciation for his place in their family unit, as he serves as a therapy dog for the family's 12 year old daughter.

Please help spread awareness of this horrific situation by signing the petition to have him released via the link below, distribute this information as widely as possible and using social media to help bring this beautiful, innocent dog home.  Although this fight is for Lennox's life, there are countless other dogs in similar situations thanks to ignorance, misunderstanding, and ineffectual, faulty lawmaking.  Whether you think it's morally correct or not (and in my opinion it's completely bogus - targeting the wrong end of the leash), the simple fact is that regardless of how you feel about certain types of dogs, Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) DOES NOT WORK.  Dog bites in municipalities whose government have instituted BSL legislation have gone up across the board.

This poor boy has been through enough. Anyone being pulled away from their family- all they know, would act up! I know I would! With all the torment and torture this poor dog has been through for over two years, any dog with an aggressive nature would have attacked those around him, making his life a misery.
Lennox was not properly measured against thoroughbred Pitbull characteristics and he was not assessed by a professional dog behaviourist- but listened to an ex-police dog handler. Those dogs are more dangerous than this American bulldog x Labrador who has never put a foot wrong in his life. Would you put a human being down for how they looked? Would you convict someone before a crime has been committed. Would you sentence an innocent person to death with no reason to do so?
I hope you see the error of your ways and aren't too ashamed of admitting you are wrong on your decision. This dog doesn't deserve to die based on preconceived notions that breeds are dangerous- not the owners who train them into fighting and guarding properties. Blame the deed not the breed. There's only dangerous acts and dangerous people. Animals do as instructed by humans. They will always stay lotyal and be man's best friend. Let this little girl's best friend return home and stop breaking their hearts over nonsense "facts" it's all made up lies and stories.

My thoughts and prayers are with beautiful Lennox and his family. May you return home soon to get back your life xoxoxox oxoxox

Isso é uma injustiça com Lennox, só por parecer com um animal que dizem ser agressivo? Quem torna o animal agressivo é o dono dele independente da raça. Quem são eles pra achar que devem tirar a vida do animal, não são DEUS! Pois DEUS DÁ A VIDA PRA SER VIVIDA COM HUMANIDADE E HUMILDADE E É SÓ ELE QUEM TEM O DIREITO DE TIRÁ- LA.

It is my hope that they get their heads out of their asses so that if they want to spend money on a stupid program that can't tell the difference in what a pitbull looks like and not. Pitbulls aren't bad, it's the owners that do the things they do with them. I am sure that if they kill this dog, they must have a place to hide. I know several people that might pay them a visit just to let them know someone cares. Bastards, and hell is waiting for them.

I recently learned that miracles can happen if you send love and compassion to those who hurt you. If we all send love and compassion to those who are holding Lennox, maybe we can soften their hearts to let go of their pride and do the right thing. I a m sending love an compassion to all concerned, especially Lennox and his family, but also to those who need to feel us so that they can release.

Where is Lennox?! We are all hanging on his fate. God help these Belfast Butchers if they kill him-they will need it!

Let the dog with his family.
He is not angry and aggressive and he has feelings too.
How can people decide about him, they know nothing about him!
How can the family not allow to see the dog he belongs to the family...that breaks my heart.
They know to destroy a family...but important things they do not care.
The family has raised him with love and he is the heart of the family!

Thats dog racism and it is the same as human racism.

How many times is this going to happen before idiots who misunderstand how dogs is not the breed of the dog that makes them show aggression its the way we humans bring them up and treat them!! Most dogs that show aggression are actually doing so in fear,,i myself have worked with many dogs who for one reason or another have shown aggression and inappropriate behaviour,,and with the right training and gaining the dogs trust it is possible to rehabilitate them. My latest dog,a staff cross,,was used as a fighting dog and a protector for her owner,,she couldnt be in the same room as another dog without wanting to do what she was trained to do,,its taken 8months,,but she is now best friends with my lab. Also with time and patience she has learnt to trust and become affectionate to humans..So i know that its possible to turn these dogs around,With Lennox being a very friendly boy and having never shown any signs of aggression the family should be allowed their pet home,,if not,, give him to Victoria!!

    So..they really it?
    Tell me its not true.
I'll boycott Belfast for the years to come.
    Poor Lennox and poor family.
Shame on you Belfast city cou cil!

I am only left with the idea that this was a revenge killing against the family. There were so many mistakes in handling the case, as well as obvious abuse of the dog while in custody. It is a fact that the way a country treats its animals is the way it treats the least of its citizens. Obviously, Belfast is still a terrible place for families, women, children and pets. They have learned nothing from all the years of the "troubles".

its amazing that a dog can be put down cause he "looks" like a pitbull.there is all this saying that he was agressive towards the wardens when they picked him up YET the warden who testified in court that e was agressive is seen in recently released photos petting Lennox and letting him lick her hands now does that sound like a agressive dog??sounds like a dog wh wants love is with the so called execution happening on the 11th of July and the family being refused a final goodbye makes me suspect that he has been dead alot longer maybe put down after the last appeal was lost or maybe dieing of injuries it seemed he recieve while in tell me how will the BCC answer to the reports coming from inside where he was held that he wasnt fed or giving water, given a proper bed to sleep on or toys to play with or even the slightest bit of love the one thing he probably really wanted.and they called the dog mean.RIP Lennox you are in a better place looking down on the family that never have and never will stop loving you.and to the BCC somehow someway you will pay Lennox was obviously mistreated in captivity and that wont go unpunished wether it be legal action which i do expect or from the hand of god himself who will punish you.shame on you cowards and liars i hope you can live with yourselves for what you have done.
