I'm pretty comfortable with the whole grooming process now. Here are some pictures from his current groom. I'm not quite finished yet, but here's what we've done so far:
Take out ponytails, brush his whooole body thoroughly:
Bath, making sure to rinse out all the shampoo thoroughly, then drying him with a towel not by rubbing, but by pressing the towel on him:
Break to let him run off some stress:
Force dry body/legs, then using a headband to keep his still-wet fluff out of his eyes:
Gradually, reveal the fancy-looking feet from the fluff:
(sigh deeply about how long his nails look without the fluff. wonder if any other dog keeps long nails even when trimmed twice a week.)
Shave his silly little ears:
(that's all for now!)

You're doing very well with this! He seems like he's coming along with it really well too and he's beautiful as always.
His nails don't look that long to me but I'm not the best judge, MiMi and Laufey's are both too long I'm worried about cutting them because I caught a quick

Re: Delta Grooming Process
Thanks Della Nails aren't so hard once you practice! Just do the tiiiniest bits you can and you'll get used to it eventually.
Theo, Delta is a Standard Poodle. His color is called "silver," which is when they start off all-black as puppies and they turn light grey as they get older, starting with their face and feet. He'll probably look more like a poodle after I'm finished grooming him.

Update!
Had to break halfway through doing his body so we could both eat.
Here's the final result:
He's nowhere near as white-grey on his paws as he appears in the last few pictures. His face and ears are a light silver, but his feet are just middle-grey. The first picture is pretty accurate for color.

I'm not convinced that alpacas and poodles are different species...

Re: Delta Grooming Process
Sunday at our place is nail day, I do them every Sunday and every week I'm surprised how much they've grown. Ella's were slightly worse when in season as she was only getting one long walk a day (about 2.5 miles) instead of two. So walking does make a difference but not enoughErica wrote:(sigh deeply about how long his nails look without the fluff. wonder if any other dog keeps long nails even when trimmed twice a week.)

Re: Delta Grooming Process
Delta looks amazing!
Thank you for sharing the grooming process. It takes a lot of work to make him look that good.
