This is quite an interesting topic.

I haven't read the book, but I have found my dogs appear to self medicate a lot (grazing nettles etc)

I trained with Caroline Ingraham many years ago. She's some lady.
I recommend Cindy Engel's "Wild Health" as a fascinating book on animals and primitive peoples self-medicating. Sometimes we know more than we know we know

Good prompt Amy.
I need to do some reading up on this because now we finally have a garden I intend to plant a herb/grass patch at some point for the dogs to help themselves to.

Re: Self Medicating
I'd love to get more involved with herbs for both humans and animals. Slowly getting more info here and there but I really need to put more time in it's such a useful thing to understand.
Anyways I thought I'd add this link to the thread http://dogsfirst.ie/best-herbs-for-dogs-part-i/. I'm not sure I'd agree with the use of some of the essential oils for dogs as they seem little strong and we should respect their sensitive noses but it's an interesting read otherwise.
