Ah sorry, never heard of that with the lavender, but doesn't mean it's worong, just that I'd never heard of it.
Dr. advising would have to be a fully qualified aromatherapist though
Vick vapour rub is another thing I find good for bites - but you had better check with Dr. about this too, as it does have some strong ingredients that might not work well with your epilepsy.

Re: My little pity party.
I use Tiger Balm on bites (guess it's similar to Vicks Vapour Rub), I stank to high heaven the last time I was in the Caribbean

Re: My little pity party.
I'm sure I've used lavender before and it's not been a problem. I was checking to see whether it was just lavender oil or whether it was something with lavender oil in it and noticed the warning. I know I've used both tiger balm and vicks before. I know warnings are often there just to cover backsides.
Re: My little pity party.
I was curious about this - a cursory google about it suggests that it's 'spike lavender' that is not appropriate, rather than regular lavender: http://www.essentialoils.co.za/epilepsy.htm

Hmm..no idea what this one was that I was looking at. It just said it was lavender oil and had a warning about not using it if you suffer from epilepsy.
Re: My little pity party.
Yes, spike lavender isn't real lavender.
Therapeutically, English lavender is best for physical issues, and French and Alpine lavenders for emotional ones - so I'd go for English if you can get it, or else French.
