no jump harness

Post by Ladybugs_11 »

Does anyone know a site that I can buy a no jump harness for a 75 lb golden/shepherd mix dog. Basically she's a lab. Thanks

I've seen these on websites, but I'm curious as to why anyone would need one. Would you mind telling us the problem you're having and perhaps we could help.

Ahh..

Ive been and looked these up (they are easy to find if you google 'no jump dog harness' ).

Honestly - waste of money.

The recommendation to use them on a dog left loose and relatively or totally unsupervised outdoors, to prevent them jumping fences is to my mind, horrific. Firstly there is a big risk of the dog rubbing itself, tangling itself or getting somehow trapped by it. Secondly most dogs would chew it off or otherwise escape, and there are plenty of examples of dogs still jumping fences whilst wearing one.

So if the issue is a dog clearing a low fence then my advice is to increase the height of the fence and/or include an overhang to stop the dog judging the height accurately. A 45 degree overhang of 1ft of heavy gauge wire mesh will stop dogs jumping a 5ft fence where they could normally clear a 6ft fence!

If the issue is the dog jumping up at people then training is required and we can explain how to do that, this device will not be a substitute for training you would still have to train and it can be achieved without the device so save your money1

Never thought of doing a search for one, my brain isn't what it used to be, old age.

The poor dogs, they are only doing what dogs do so for that they get horrible gadgets put on them. It seems that many people were missed when brains were given out.
