Y Harnesses and measuring

I have a question about measuring for harnesses....Y harnesses in particular such as the ones below:-

You order them in varying sizes which range from 35cm, 45cm, 60cm, 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and so on. Where would I measure on these kind of harnesses to work out which size to get?

I have contacted the manufacturer but they are in Finland and havent responded yet!

I want to get one for Dylan for when he is on his long line in strange places or when he cant be off lead, but also want to try and sell them, but need to know how to measure!

You need to ask them, there are several ways they can be measured.

It is a pity they don't show the harnesses on a dog, it will owners a better idea of how they look.

Ah they do have a picture at the bottom.....you can only see the top of the head but if you click on it it brings up the whole picture.

I was thinking of getting the Y harnesses, as the other harnesses seem to go straight across the chest.

Thanks Ladybug, it could be they way the dog is sitting but that strap round the body seems very close to the elbows, you can see things much clearer if the dog is standing.

Ah interesting....do the other harnesses (not the Y ones) on that site look better? I was veering away from them because of the strap actross the chest?

Do you have any recommendations of good, padded walking harnesses along these lines?

I don't like any harness that goes round the chest like they do, they are much easier for a dog to push into them and pull their owner along, they are the same as harnesses that horses use to pull carts.

I do know someone who used to sell the harnesses from http://dog-games-shop.co.uk/harnesses-fleece-lined these are the harnesses I use on my dogs, it may be worth approaching them to see if you can sell their's.

Get writing to the various companies and see if they will let you sell their items.

I do already buy from Company of Animals actually, but thought they just did car harnesses...but must look through their brochuire again!

I did see the Hurtta ones, as well as Xtra Dog, at a recent trade show, and thought the Hurtta ones seems really nice....well made, well padded, durable and functional whilst stioll being comfy for the dog.

Must have more of a look around me thinks!
