Can you help by posting this one far and wide?

Freddie is an attractive, neutered, middle-aged medium size dog, pretty well behaved - but not good around sheep.

He needs to relocate from rural Wales where he is surrounded by temptation to a much more urban environment. He does not enjoy kennel life and is making himself sore with constant licking.

He is one of the remarkable Anne Fowler's charges and he is safe where he is, but I know how much she wants him to be settled. Anne - as you may know due to an earlier appeal - has terminal cancer and is handing over Home-A-Dog to Demelda on May 1st. It would be a tremendous morale boost to know that Freddie is finally settled as he's had more than his fair share of disappointments in the past!

Can we help Freddie and put a smile on Anne's face? Perhaps someone also in rescue could do a swap - a dog that needs country life for the city slicker Freddie? Not sure if Anne's got the energy, really she just needs all our help at the moment to get to May 1st and have a rest.

How about widening the remit by training Freddie not to chase sheep or anything else he thinks he should chase? It isn't difficult.

I always worry when stock-worriers are placed 'in the town' because so often people holiday in the country, doggie goes off lead and there is an avoidable accident.

Where I live, sheep are all over the hills, not just in fields, and it's mayhem at holiday time, when a bit of training would make all the difference.

If anyone would offer to tackle Freddie's recent heightened chase instincts that would be superb!

I don't think Anne has the energy to do it sadly, so she's looking for removing him from the problem as the easiest route to getting him out of kennels which he loathes.

Any ideas of who might be near enough to train him - or happy to take him on? He's near Snowdonia at the moment.

Not my patch, Beverley - but there are bound to be behaviourists there who would help. Maybe start a database in the magazine?

Just to clarify the extent of re-training needed - by 'recently heightened chase instincts' do you mean he has tried to chase sheep, has chased them, has injured one/some or has killed one/some? And would this be once or more often?
