Exercise and Training

Post by Owdb1tch »

Last night, one of the most difficult, reactive and insubordinate dogs in my training class behaved like a cool dude. The transformation was close to shocking

I asked his owner what she'd done. She introduced me to the young man who has been walking the dog for two hours a day. Sheesh what a difference. And yet when I tell some people any dog's minimum exercise is two hours a day, the excuses fall out of their mouths one after another.

Now all I have to do is get her to take him off dried food........

what an amazing transformation. I hope all the other owners were listening.

I don't know if you saw Crufts on tv. One of the owners said she didn't like to give the dogs too much exercise because it wastes good dog food and spoils the coat *banghead*

What a good job there are caring owners willing to risk 'wasting good dog food' in such a frivolous manner

Well done to you and your star pupil

I love Crufts, but so pleased I don't enter!!!

anyway....

Why are people so surprised when I say I walk my dog 2 hrs min a day ?? Do they not think they need to go out? Get trained? Socialise with people/pooches??

I dispair at times, 2 hours is not unreasonable......

Arragh... rant over :D

Nothing wrong with dried food as long as you get one that doesn't have a lot of ingredients/additives in

Lots of dogs can't eat raw meat, I have one and a friend's Weimaraner was brought up on raw food by his breeder and he has developed an alergy to raw meat.

I have been attacked on other boards for not feeding raw even though Joe can't eat it, he gets seizures. I have been told I am a bad dog keeper, I abuse my dogs etc. There is more than one way to feed a dog and the dog be fit and healthy and people should be given all the options not just one.

What a load of c**P! You should go with what suits you and your dogs - those comments are very unfair and unwarrented.

I've tried to feed raw, but he's not interested so I feed what you feed your boy - I may try again with raw during the summer, who knows!

At least here we can sometimes disagree without major upsets ... sometimes!!!

There's no way I'd "attack" anyone - raw doesn't suit every dog.

Good heavens that wasn't aimed at you OB! I'd copied and pasted the first 2 sentances from Mattie's post, so sorry if it came over that way.

I am confused which isn't hard.

I wasn't attacking anyone on here, just saying what has happened in the past. Each time this happened I said my piece in a nice way, and left. On one board I received an email from another member who said that the members who attacked me only say they feed raw when in fact they feed dry.

It's so hard to get the medium right on the internet - maybe I should have used quote marks or something - :? I feel quite bad now, come back OB we love you. :D

I missed this earlier, sorry Owdb1tch, I wasn't saying you had attacked me but saying what has happened in the past on other boards.

Sorry  I didn't take it personally - just my natural brevity made it seem like that.

So I must stress - I can agree in a mature manner :D to disagree  and I love you all too  and everybody's opinion is equally valuable and appreciated.

As for raw feeding - my dogs had rabbit casserole and veggies tonight - I feed mostly raw but evey now and then they have a cooked dinner for no good reason!
