US and UK versions

Post by mum24dog »

I've only just caught up with a few of the US episodes and I can't believe how polite Victoria is to the families.
Over here she didn't mince words - told it to the families straight.
Obviously a cultural difference. I wonder how hard she finds it to bite her tongue sometimes.
Just an observation.
I would say though that the calm and reasoned approach does provide an excellent contrast with the bullying tactics of Cesar Millan.

Just to say that I do prefer the longer format of the US version as it enables her to go into more detailed explanation of the whys and wherefores and to give a clearer idea that these things take time.

You said in the UK version, Victoria gave some of the families a good tongue lashing. In a couple of the US versions, she does but not like in the UK versions. Give her time, the US is a big country and I know she'll run into families who do the same thing as those families did in the UK. Sometimes I think we have more than our fair share of idiots, just look at the news here!

I just found this video of the "Dog Whisperer"... I LOL'd. You may have seen it before, but it is hilarious.

The one hour format in the US gives Victoria more time to explain her well-thought-out methods for the TV audience. Personally, I would have been tougher on some of the people, but that's just my opinion. I really don't think there is a cultural difference other than dropping the leather suit, leash-snapping, semi-dominatrix intro sequence.
