Gracie

Post by Mattie »

Gracie is feeling the heat so I have clipped her, her back legs are in quite a state as you can see with one of the photos but 4 months ago she couldn't bend her back legs the way she has in the one she is lying down in. Both back legs have crutial ligament problems as well as arthritis in both back and front so she was too sore for me to clip her legs.

This is the new look Gracie, I have hardboard on my windowledge because I am trying to sell my house, it protects it from dog claws.

Gracie outside on the table I clipped her on. She was a really wriggly worm and wouldn't stay still and getting her to turn her face for the camera took lots of patience, she wouldn't look even for a treat.

On the windowledge, she had quite a thick ruff round her nect which the clippers struggled to get through.

Gracie's the one that's 17 years old and goes to hydrotherapy? What kind of dog is she again? Well I certainly hope her new 'do helps her feel more comfortable. There's nothing worse than being hot and itchy and too feeble to do anything about it.

Annie's daddy gave her a haircut last weekend too. She looks soooo much better! (He does a good job on her, and he is the only one she will let use the clippers on her) Her coat is very thick, so we're thinking perhaps this is a good length for her all year, rather than letting it get so long. I wish I could post a pic-- our digital camera isn't working though.

Yes Gracie is my little oldie, well my oldest, I have another 2 oldies as well. She is a Staffy/Cairn Terrier and when she first came she wanted to kill every dog she saw.

Gracie is so much more comfortable now, we are not used to these high temperatures in this country and it came suddenly which didn't give anyone a chance to adapt.

Gracie goes to bed with a jumper on to make sure she doesn't get cold during the night.

Gracie's front legs are only 3ins long, she isn't capable of climbing a ladder, stairs have always been difficult for her because of her size and shape. I have to carry Gracie upstairs and often lift her up steps if they are deep.

Gracie is one of the oddest dogs I have ever seen, she has the Staffy shaped body with very short legs, head is a mixture of Staffy and Cairn. She is overloaded with guts, still very feisty and demands her own way. When I tell all the dogs to do something she thinks she isn't included.

Well gosh Mattie, considering Gracie is older than you (in dog-years), perhaps she finds it rather impertinent for you to be bossing around your elders. Naturally, being a properly civilized human, Gracie realises you would never deign to tell her what to do-- that would be extremely disrespectful, for certain! So I can see why she would assume she isn't included when you tell the other dogs what to do. :P
