Red noses and allergies

Post by Shalista »

I remember reading somewhere that dogs with red mouths are having an allergic reaction. Bax's skin is very pink around his nose and upper lip area under his fur. I've noticed it for months/possibly years but since hes raw fed i never really considered it. is there any truth to this?

As ever, it's 'some and some'. The red allergy reaction usually extends way beyond nose and upper lip, and is intensely irritating. Saliva turns skin red on some white-furred dogs. If it isn't annoying him, it's most likely to be a combination of that and getting his mouth wet on all the outdoor fun that can get a dog's mouth wet.

If he isn't bothered, you don't need to be. :)

good to know! and it def doesnt bother him. hes very thin furred on some parts of his body so its possible that's just his normal skin color showing through.
