Hi again Barratda, I've been thinking a lot about you and Bonita and seaching the net.
I just found this page that I think you may find very interesting.
It's about dog seizures and there's a video where the vet talks about the different steps of investigation and treatment.

I hope this is of some help to you; maybe you can take some notes for when you go to see your vet and I also think it may be quite helpful for him to see the video of Bonita when she has her fit.

Look forward to hearing from you. :)

Oohhh that is quite odd!

The only thing ive seen that looked remotely similar, was a ***** who would 'air hump' and walk at the same time and she looked confused and worried by it and also not entirely in control of what her body was doing. It occurred when she would get excited.... is there a correlation between this weird action and Bonita being particularly happy to see someone or somedog?

I had a keeshond many, many years ago who was epileptic. I'm in no way an expert, but my first thought when seeing the video is that you dog may have some form of epilepsy.

I second what Zeldacorgi said. It doesn't look strictly behavioral. Our family's first dog, a terrier, had grand mal seizures and had be put on medication. Judging by the video, this doesn't seem to be consciously controlled and localized in her back legs.

Is it possible to send the video to your vet? Get a second opinion? If it's neurological, you could see a specialist as well. An MRI or CAT scan might rule out any brain abnormalities. An EEG (if there's such a thing for dogs) to see the brain waves.

Have you examined the legs? It could have luxating patellas (knee caps fall in and out) and kicking her legs to get the knee caps back if she jumps up or strains her legs during play, but this is more common in toy breeds. Maybe it's hip dysplasia and the dog is "bunny hopping" and using the spine more to compensate for the reduced movement in the hip. To check for these, you would need to see the vet (my vet could check for knee condition without an x-ray) and possibly an x-ray for hip dysplasia.

All these diagnosis aren't cheap so you might look into getting pet insurance to help pay for costs.

Saw you video and I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I think you need to consult a veterinary neurologist. This could be a form of a seizure or even and unusual muscloskeletal problem. You are mostly likely going to need to have an MRI or advanced imaging and a good neuro exam. Ask your local vet where the nearest neurologist is from you.

I would definatly take the video and show the vet..It doesn't look like it is a behavior issue...Try and see if there is something that sets it off..Like being overexcited or stimulated..The more info you can give the vet the better..I worked for a vet and it was difficult when a person would come in with a sick animal and couldn't give any info leading up to the illness...Something you might think totally irrelavent might be the key..Try googling symptons she has and see if something comes up...I hope everything works out..Give her a hug from me..I felt so bad seeing her like that..It seems that she knows something is wrong...Please keep us updated..

I am SO sorry for you and your family. :(

My dog Goldie was making noises at the foot of my bed one night. When I got up to see what she was doing, she was having a seizure and I was afraid that was what was happening with your dog. Goldie died unexpectedly 6 months later when my friend found her on my bed when she came by to let her out for me.

My heart breaks for you. She is at peace now and will always be a loving memory for you. This poem meant so much to me after losing Goldie. I hope it brings a little comfort to you too....

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
