This is an invention from the training school we take our Dalmatian. It has a volume control, which allows you to reduce the volume to up to a quarter of the typical volume of clickers. I think this is great because some dogs are initially frightened by loud noises such as conventional clickers.
Here's the link for it from Canine Concepts:

I love my i click.
I have 6 dogs, and some of the dogs that travel through my home are terrified by the click. I find pings are great for these dogs.
I also like that it has two volumes, so I can work quietly with one dog. And that little finger strap is a Godsent.
But my batteries are dead . I have to replace them

maybe I'm just ghetto... my clicker is a snapple drink cap. I can't bring myself to go out and buy dog gadgets anymore, at least not when I can find cheaper substitutes in my recycling tote.

I'm a pro at that! lol I had horses growing up (actually we had several and I was the only one who rode as my mom is scared to death of them) and I got a real sharp "Cluck"Mattie wrote:You can use your mouth as well You can make a click noise or use a special word instead of the clicker.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses other things

I am all for using alternate markers, but, I always keep the unique properties of the clicker in mind.
It is unique, unemotional, faster than a spoken marker, consistant (until it breaks), is thought to work through the amygdala which is associated with rapid learning and has the potential to release endorphins into the system, making it ideal for working with fearful or reactive dogs.
BTW, the chirp, the warble and the ping also work like this.
Sorry, I am a behavior wonk. I can't help it.

I LOVE using the clicker! I was 1st introduced to it at a PetSmart Puppy K class for my now 2-1/2 yr old bichon, Lucy. I now have another puppy, Bella and I'm working with her too now.
My ? is - with Lucy I would watch her and when she would do something I wanted her to do on cue (like "take a bow") I would click and treat. Well, now with having both of them around, do you think doing that with Bella would confuse Lucy? Should I also give Lucy a treat when I click for Bella?
Thanks!

Touch a Bichon and you have touched a bit of Heaven! Hold a Bichon and you have held the World! Love a Bichon and you will love life forever!
