We have a pool and our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel stays out of it so far (he's 10 months old). Summer is coming and the grandkids are coming to visit. I bought a life jacket for our dog and I'm wondering if this is going to give him a false sense of what he can do in the water--maybe he'll think he can swim without it?? Is it better to introduce him to swimming without the jacket first?
Thanks for any help here.

Re: Life Jacket - swimming
I'm not an expert, but I would introduce him to the pool first without the jacket. I have a Dachsund (Striker) and a Dachshund x Jack Russel (Bibi), and both of them can swim. I put them on the steps of the pool first (where they are able to stand), and they started swimming by themselves.
