my dog cannot stay alone at home- barks & cries! Help!!!

I have a 4 year old Maltese-Griffon male dog who has been brought up with a lot of attention from me (i treated him like he was my child). The result is that he cannot stay alone at home, he barks and cries continuously. That is a serious problem because the neighbours are annoyed and they rebuke me.. (i live in a flat).

Can you please advice me on what to do? i will really appreciate it.

oh my dear spiros. i can understand you completely. I had the same problem with my dog.... I was not able to control it, the neighbours were angry so unfortunately..... i gave him away! I hope you will not have to do the same to your dog-son!

But i think what u should do is stop doing whatever your dog wants, otherwise you will get crazy.

start off by leaving the room for seconds at a time and gradually build it up with a lot of treats and praise

Try leaving him with a bone or Kong. So he is distracted when you leave. When he finishes it he might not bark because he has not seen you leave.
