Sometimes he is asleep, but I learned very quickly not to bother him then. It's harder to avoid when he's simply tired, or has just woken up, or is thinking about taking a nap. He reacts the same way but looks wide awake.

And shelby if he's not asleep you may want to make noise first anyway just so he becomes aware of his surroundings. I think until you're able to find out the "why", management would be the key for now.

Yeah I need to be more consistent with warning him that I'm about to get near or touch him. I think that's why he doesn't do the growling with my husband, as my husband tends to talk more loudly than I do and just make more noise in general. I don't think Gabe is ever surprised by him. I just wish there was a way to make him less fearful, I guess only time will make that happen.
