pawing at food
I have an 18 week old English Springer Spaniel. He has started to paw at his food making it spill all over. He then eats it off from the floor. He keeps this up until he empties the bowl unto the floor and finishes eating it off the floor. He just started this in the week or so.. Just wondering if any one has had this problem and knows what to do about it.
I have a dog that wouldn't eat out of a bowl at all for the first year
What would/did I do? Nothing. It's not really a problem. They grow out of these funny little ways. Just feed somewhere that the mess doesn't matter.
You can try a change of food bowl to a plate, or to ceramic if you are using plastic - a lot of dogs don't like to eat out of plastic because it smells bad to them. A lot of dogs don't like the clatter of metal bowls. But it might just be a puppy thing.

A dog is never bad or naughty - it is simply being a dog
