Husky Chews Door Molds!

Post by shekate »

Our 9-month Siberian Husky recently started chewing our wood trim around the house - door moldings specifically. She's destroyed 4 door casings, which we've had patched/replaced. The last occurrence was when left alone for an hour after a 2.5 mile walk/run! And I'd left her a peanut butter and dog cookie stuffed kong to entertain her, which was empty upon my return.
She's got a variety of chew toys, bones, interactive toys, which we rotate so they stay interesting.
We've sprayed bitter apple or 'Fooey' onto the wood, and it doesn't seem to faze her.
We crate her at night about 10pm-6am, and am loathe to crate her during our days at work, as well. We had her in a puppy playpen until 7 months of age, due to urinary health issues, and now she's baby gated into a large open dining/hallway area (probably 300 sqft) w/her bedding and various toys. Most days, our shepherd is in the room with her, for play and comfort.
She'll go days without displaying this behavior.
Please advise. Not only is the wood potentially dangerous to her, but it's unsightly, difficult and costly for us to repair. :( [/b]
