I'm so pleased he's happy now - that's what matters :D

I know someone on another forum who recently adopted a second, adult, dog. Her dog is quite shy and sensitive, but well raised, trained, exercised, etc. She's been amazed to see that not only do the two dogs get on, but her original dog is so much happier, more settled and confident in general now. I know that often, expecting your dog to tolerate a new dog is like bringing home a new husband/wife and expecting your current partner to welcome them, but it really does seem that some dogs benefit from another canine companion.

sometimes we aren't what a specific dog needs. no shame in that. making sure the dog gets what they need is more important and it sounds like you did that.

also, working with a fearful dog isn't for everyone. not shame in that either. and again, finding them the right fit is far more important.
