Ellie has developed a rather annoying habit of wanting the loo in the middle of the night (usually about 1 - 2 am). Naturally this means I have to get up to let her out at this hour which is seriously interferring with my beauty sleep - and I need all the help I can get
I always put her outside before we go to bed at night and won't let her in until she has been, even if its only a token gesture, but still I get woken up by her scratching at the bedroom door to be let out.
At her age surely she should be able to go through the night without a loo stop? Also (pre-empting your question) yes she does drink a lot, but always has done. I am sure I have read somewhere about lifting her water bowl an hour or so before bedtime, but I am a bit loathe to do that in this hot weather we are having. Any tips folks?

Vet check first, I have done this with Gracie because she wasn't going through the night.
I find it better to soak dry food for an hour or 2 before feeding, my dogs don't drink as much but still get as much water as they need.
Instead of putting her out, take her out and watch her, she could be lonely.

Oh fancy! Just after me remarking on how inspired your ladle idea was Mattie, now I need it Yes I will get a sample and whisk her off to the vets.
As for the dried food, well not an issue as she is on a raw diet.
And yes Mattie, I do go to the garden with her so she doesn't get lonely and also because she is afrad of the dark!! Gosh what a ferious Doberman she truly is
