Any new suggestions on where to rehome jessie?

Post by simpleprincess » Mon Jul 21, 2008 4:51 am

Shes loads better with her housetraining btw. The biggest thing is moms house is repossesing and theres nowhere to for jessie, ive tried the oldies club and have go nowhere,w e have tried the rspca who dont seem to want to bother, they said it will be very differcult to re-home her and with her problems as well, mom has no money, she has a non cancerous growth that still needs seeing too, the skin condition which ive bought cream for her which seem to help. her funny tooth. The vet said none of this is urgent but will need doing down the line, alot of people seem to want nowadays is little cute puppies *sigh* It would be such a shame to have her put down, nobody wants to bother, its not fair for her to spend the rest of her days in a kennel somewhere. moms big dog might go back to the breeder. :?

All the rescues are overflowing with dogs they are struggling to rehome. As you say, people want cuddly puppies not older dogs even when they are fit and healthy. If you rehome her privately, there is no guarentee that the new owners won't kick her out onto the street for her to end up in a pound before being put to sleep after her 7 days are up.

If she was my dog I wouldn't let her go anywhere else, sorry, but I would put her to sleep, at least she won't suffer at the end of her life. I have seen older dogs come into the pound because they were kicked out old and sick, I have seen how they suffer even though the pound I work with is a good one and do try to make their lives a good as possible. I would never allow any of my dogs to go through that.

I hope your mum's brother takes her, to many people are kicking out older dogs, below is a photo of one of mine, Ellie, who is an ex breeding ***** and when she needed help they kicked her out. Ellie had 2 massive tumours on her, one on her front leg the other on her side, she must have been like that for some time. RDR picked her up the morning her 7 days were up, took her to the vets and had these taken off, she came to me to recouperate from the operation and was suposed to be rehomed but never moved on. Very few people will take on older dogs even when they are healthy.

This is Ellie when she came into the pound. You can see the tumour on her front leg, the other one is the other side. The vet done a wonderful job on her, you would never know she had these now.

This is Ellie 4 months later still waiting for her perfect home but she had already decided she was staying.
