dog drandruff?

Post by charlie »

sorry another question about charlie our choc lab,
we're noticed charlie has what seems like drandruff (sp)
does any-1 have any recommendations what we could use to sort this?
also what is recommended to clean up dog pee to stop the smell so he wont do it again, charlie sometimes goes upstairs when our daughter plays but lately he has been pee'ing on her bedroom floor, we now have a gate at the bottom of the stairs but just wondering what we could use just in case he gets back upstairs.
cheers every-1

It might be something to do with his diet.
My vet recommended Viacutan . I have a pump . Its expensive but lasts a long time.

Dogs also produce dandruff when they get stressed. My little dog spent the day at the vet having his teeth cleaned recently and he was covered in dandruff the next day .

You can use biological washing up powder to remove urine or a product like Urine -off

I got rid of my carpets and have lino now . With all the pets I have its much easier
Kongs are good for stressy dogs , they like to chew and can be filled with treats and kong filler.

My ***** went in for a spay about 6 weeks ago and just in the 2 days (spay day and the next) she became dandruffy.

I am right royally peed off because she had developed a lovely coat being on Raw food, so it is a case of starting again from scratch.

The dandruff is slowly clearing up, but to me it is a physical sign of the mental and physiological stress she was under for 48hrs.

Dandruff

I highly recommend a food brand called burns. It should be in most pet stores and is very effective at clearing up any probs like dandruff. Look at http://www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk/ to find out more! Hope that helps! :D

What food are you feeding? (if you are in the US I'll know the food if you're in Europe I'll need the ingredients). Much of the time poor nutrition is the cause of dry skin. You could also use some sort of fish oil added to the food. Stress could also cause excess dandruff. Has anything in your house changed that could be stressing her?

Dandruff means that toxins are being cleansed out through the skin. There is a number of ways to help the cleansing. I prefer to cook up young nettles with some meat and feed the dog a stew, including the liquid.

Good results can also be obtained from adding liquidised raw spinach or watercress to food, but the food must be a meat mix.
Or you can use all three.

Nettles this time of year are very good for cleansing.

Take a pair of gloves or a pair of scissors and snip or pull the tops off the nettle plants. If your dog is a fussy feeder, snip the nettles up small and add to a good meaty and "vegetably" stew.

That's it! :D
