Foster Dog Peeing on the beds-HELP!!

Post by Jillybean »

Hello again,

In the first weeks Bluto was here with us, I caught him peeing on my 4yr old son's bed twice. He was immidately corrected on the spot and there hadn't been another incident since. Tonight I went into my bedroom to put the freshly washed sheets on and I see a HUGE puddle of urine right in the middle of my bed!! My husband is livid-WHY would he do this? Help please.

He is joining the family in a dog way. He is choosing the place that smells most of YOU and making it smell of him.

This is a great opportunity to teach the family to shut doors.

Take him out often and reward him when he pees in the right place (as it was a huge puddle, he mst have been waiting for some time)

Exercise him well and he will not need to pee between times

Spend lots of training time with him and he will feel more secure in the family

Make sure he is 'safe' in his own bed/crate and that nobody disturbs hin when he is there, so he feels more secure

If he can't get in the bedrooms he can't pee on the bed. It only happened to me once and I made sure it never happened again by keeping the door shut. I also corrected myself for neglecting to close the door.
