Dog bathrooms in house

Post by karimd »

Hey I have two dogs and they use to live with our whole family my parents and my brother and I. Now the dogs just live with me. The Jack Russell Terrior (which is my brothers he is in the army right now) is about two years old and has been for about 6 to 9 months now going to the bathroom on the floor in the house, both poop and pee. It is usually one particular spot. I take him out three times a day and he goes pee outside i wait at least 30 mins but he rarely goes poop (he always seems really destracted too) and as soon as I bring him in, in the next 30 mins - hour he's gone on the floor poop definitely and sometimes pee. This is an every minute of the day thing. I only feed him at night once daily. My mom who spoils him ands says he doesn't do it when she comes in for her visits, which he really doesn't or doesn't do it as much ignores the problems and I have let it go on this long just because I haven't had time which I know is bad but...he was thrown in with me by them and I am already taking care of school and my dog...I am getting no help with this problem and I am losing my mind...please someone help me!!!! :(

Taking him outside 3 times a day isn't enough, a dog needs to go out a lot more than that. He really needs taking back to the beginning and re training him.

What are you cleaning up with? Normal household cleaners take the smell away for us but not our dogs. As your dogs seem to go in the same spot you may not be taking the smell away for them. Biological washing liquid will take the smell away as well as white vinegar or you can buy something from the pet shop.

Vets recommend that dogs are fed a minimum of twice a day now.

If you walk the dog, the exercise stimulates the bowels and he will be much keener to empty outside. If you are waiting 30 minutes you might as well take him out and walk him for 30 minutes. Don't take him home the minute her performs as he will then hang on as long as possible to get a longer walk.

When dogs know they are going to be walked instead of just taken outside, they usually wait for the walk before they pee and poo.

You seem to have inherited a lot of work you didn't want. Take a hug
)))))HUG(((((

*whispers* I feed mine once a day as well :D

i have used some expensive products fromt he pet store to try and clean up the areas but he still seems to favor the areas...i am still on the search for that product...my old vet i took them too said that he should have no problem only being walked three times a day that dogs should be able to hold themselves for about eigth hours, I asked her this because at the times we had issues with school schedules and me having to let him in a cage and I was worried...thanks for the advice

to Owdb1tch thanks for the HUG I really don't mind taking care of him he's sweet it's just hard when someone comes home spoils him and he semi listens to her and then leaves and I have to deal with him in the after math and he doesn't listen to me....lol

When you feed him put his feed bowl on top of were he goes, that sometimes works.

yes dogs can go for 8 hours just as we can, but when ours and their bladders are full they are stretched, if they are stretched on a regular basis the bladder doesn't go back to it's normal size and can cause problems later on. My Greyhound would only pee 3 times a day, it was like a waterfall  and didn't do his bladder any good. He can't often go 8 hours now, he drips enough out to relieve the pressure when he is asleep. I often have to get up in the night to take him outside because of this. Sometimes when he holds on and tries to pee, he has problems, it comes out in dribs and drabs and it sometimes takes him about 20 minutes for a pee.

Many dogs are fine with once a day but some breeds need at least 2 meals a day, mainly the deepchested breeds like Greyhounds, Lurchers etc.

Mattie, have you had your greyhound's prostate checked?

Sorry too much info!!

He may have a problem with his spine, just above his hips and is having an MRI scan next Wednesday.

He isn't lame but "Not Level" as we say with horses :D and this is intermittent. Each time I threatened to take him to see his lovely Aunts and Uncles he went sound. I got fed up with this and took him anyway. When trotting him up outside, he is a dog 'onestly, at first Joachim didn't see it, so I run him again and it was there.

I have told the vets before about this pee problem but they couldn't find anything wrong.

But did they give him the proctologist's handshake? It does sound sooo like prostate.

Don't know what that is so don't know :D Joachim will make sure that everything that can be done is done. Gracie is under him and nothing is too much trouble to find out what the problem is.
