Hi. We recently adopted an Australian Cattle dog from a pet rescue shelter. We adore him and he has a gorgeous personality BUT we are finding his behaviour very challenging. He is 13 months old and we have no idea what his background was. He gets very excited and jumps, mouths and nips us on the ankle or upper thigh - this hurts!! I have been doing lots of reading that suggests ignoring him until he calms down but it is very difficult - not to mention painful, to ignore a dog who is hurting you. We can't have any visitors to our home as he either barks, jumps on or "nips" them. If we put him outside he
barks and we have neighbours that complain and threaten to report us! He has two walks a day, we are home with him a lot, we play with him and try to mentally stimulate him and he can be very affectionate. We are willing to do what it takes to work on improving his behaviour but just do not know what to do. Can anyone offer any suggestions?????
