Hi all

I'm Lisa and live in the North East of England just outside of Middlesbrough. I live alone with my two GSDs - Logan is just turned 4 and is a bit of a character shall we say and has been with me since he came over from a rescue in Ireland at 8 weeks old. Heidi is just turned two and is a private rehoming from a lady who could not cope with her serious dog aggression. She has been with me just under a year now arriving a month after the sad loss of my soul mate dog Oscar who lost his fight with CDRM last October aged 14.

Have shared my life with German Shepherds now for nigh on 25 years and can't ever imagine not having one or two (or in some cases more!) lying around the place leaving hairy patches on the carpets.

My name's Nat and this is my 2yo boy, "Chips". I'm a big reader/small contributor. I'm based in regional Australia and volunteer at the local animal shelter.

We love long walks, peeing on other people's fences and cuddling up on the couch. I sneak him bits of my dinner under the table when my partner isn't looking and give him lots of love and attention for not dobbing me in! Chips is very funloving easygoing as long as he has company.

I picked him up from the pound a couple of months ago... he was abandoned and returned a few times. I rescued him because I'm a big softie! For weeks he followed me EVERYWHERE around the house but he's slowly becoming more comfortable with doing his own thing.

My partner is great mates with Chips and organises fresh meat for him (I'm veggo and verrry grossed out by meat).

I'm so happy to be part of the world of dogs!

Hi
My name is Maija, and I am 31 year old. I live in Tromsø, Norway. It is very far north, so we have a long dark winter… But in the summer we are enjoying the midnight sun.
I have two male Shih Tzu dogs, Tobias (3,5 yo) and Casper (3 yo). I don’t use them in shows, so they can have short hair. This is the first time I have dogs, so these past 3,5 years has been a new and wonderful experience for me. Now I can`t imagine a life without dogs!
I just love “it`s me or my dogâ€
Maija, Tobias & Casper =)

Welcome to the forums!

Don't worry about your English grammar... it's a damn sight better than a lot of English people can manage!

Hi,
My name is Susie. I'm 33 and live in Kentucky, USA. I am the mother of many animals. I care for my parents, and am a writer (mostly children's stories). I have 1 cat, 1 dog, 1 rabbit, 3 cockatiels, 1 parakeet, 1 turtle, and 2 tanks of fish. I recently lost my rat to old age.

I lost my beloved Rosie May 27th, 2006 after 14 wonderful years. At first I didn't want another dog. I had always preferred cats anyway, and I would never find one I loved as much. Well, after a while the idea of another dog started to grow on me. I decided to look for the perfect dog. It had to be big, because I don't like little dogs. Nothing against them, I like playing with other people's, they just aren't for me. It also had to be female. I've always preferred females to males. It also had to be an older dog. I no longer have the time or patience for a puppy.

Tyler was born October 4th from my sister's Dashchund. I found myself falling for him pretty quickly. My nephew was originally going to keep him. At 9 weeks old, Tyler's mother attacked him. We don't know why it happened, but she made it clear he was not going to be allowed to stay. I live next door, and my nephew is here as much as he is home, so it was agreed that Tyler would stay with me until he healed and a solution was found. Around Christmas, my nephew told me that I could have Tyler since we had become so attached to each other. He likes Tyler's brother, Rick, better and decided to keep that puppy instead.

That is how I ended up with a puppy that is the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted. I am madly in love and can't imagine life without him. At first, he was scared of everything. Now he is fearless. He chases the vaccuum, is fascinated by the can opener, and seems to enjoy the sound of the mixer. My cat, Onyx, has taken to him better than I thought he would. They play together and share toys. Onyx is even teaching Tyler to chase mice. As a result, Tyler plays more like a cat, pouncing and smacking. He does still shake his toys, so I don't think it's caused an identity crisis. At least not yet.

Tyler is very well behaved, and has taken to training quickly. I found that affection works best for a reward. When I tried offering a treat, he took it but then went to his food bowl. He seemed to think the treat meant training was over and I wanted him to eat. I've only been training him a couple of weeks, but he already knows sit, down, and shake. He's completely paper trained, but not house broken yet. We are going to start that soon, now that he is healed. He couldn't go outside at all while he had the open wounds. He also couldn't wear a collar or harness. Leash training will also be started soon.

I guess I should stop talking now. I'm very glad I found this forum. I've learned a lot just reading the posts.

She a smelly little madam whos flatulance problem may be causing real problems with the OZONE layer- but I love her loads when she finally get re-homed!

Wish I didn't have to work so I could have a little dog of my own! i Have found this site unbelievably useful! It's amazing how much mischief our little furry friends can cause!!

Hi

My name is Lynsey and I live in N.Ireland. Im 30 years old and have a wee dog called Molly.

She's a terrier x, all black with white paws and chest. She's about 3 years old (approx) and we got her from the USPCA about 11/2 years ago.

She can be quite affectionate, very alert, loves rolling in grass and likes to try and chase things(cats definitely!)

She doesnt like loud noisy traffic, other dogs and left out in the back garden for a short time would bark constantly! (even with toys/kong to amuse her)

This is the 1st FORUM I've been to and Ive been reading some really good tips and advice!

Hi, I'm Rosie and I have just adopted deaf rescue dog Horace. We have a huge post on another thread, so I won't say too much here, but he is 2 years old JRTxcollie. I am 26, moved to Scotland 4 months ago from London/Hertfordshire, and am having a great time! Horace is my first dog, but he is so brilliant and quick to learn I am chuffed to bits that I didn't get an "easier" first dog.

At the moment we are just working on socialising, but I would really like to do some agility with him in the summer when our local course starts again. He loves it, we have tried it once and he got so excited! He is a very bright boy (think overgrown JRT with a collie brain inside) so we have to find something to occupy his mind!
