Amazing Grace is now a 7 year old dog. I acquired her from Loving Companions Animal Rescue at about six months of age. She had been relinquished by her previous owners at about 5-months because she was "hyper and destructive". It turns out that Grace suffers from canine obsessive compulsive disorder, with her obsessive behavior being running, and running, and running. When in that state she simply can NOT stop even to eat or interact with humans.
To treat her, we removed all corn (maize) from her diet, supplemented her feeding with melatonin, changed her environment frequently so that she couldn't develop a set pattern to her running, and exercised her by running on teams as often as possible. Today her behavior is no different than that of any other dog in the yard.
A couple of days ago I noticed a change in her feeding behavior. In my opinion, the first step in addressing any sudden change in behavior should be a thorough veterinary examination. In Grace's case, that examination found two teeth that were hurting her. They were extracted yesterday, she spent the night in the house last night, and was put back in the dog yard this morning.
Here are two photos I captured of her just a bit ago. As you can tell by the lip-licking in the top photo, she isn't entirely comfortable at the moment. She is nonetheless coping and seems to well on her way to a full recovery.

Re: Amazing Grace
Wow the markings on her face are so striking. She is beautiful.
Isn't it amazing what a change to a decent diet can do for a dog's behaviour. And of course getting the right amount of exercise for the breed.
Glad she is recovering well from the extraction.
