Hedlund Huskies are a line of Alaskan sled dogs developed by Rose and Nels Hedlund of Lake Illiamna during the mid-20th century. Although rare today, there are several Hedlund owners working together in an attempt to preserve the line.
Here are photos of my 3 full-blood Hedlunds shot today. Not the best pics in the world, but they are GREAT sled dogs.
Friday is just 4 days shy of his first birthday.
Chetan (Lakota for Hawk Spirit) was very curious about the camera.
Animosh (Ojibwe for "dog") was particularly difficult to photograph through the chain link of her pen. Her pen mate, Nels, is 1/2 Hedlund husky.

Stunningly beautiful.
Oh those lovely feet.....no I'm not a foot fetishist - well, only as far as dogs and horses are concerned
What are the Hedlunds like in temperament compared to other types?

A dog is never bad or naughty - it is simply being a dog

Re: Hedlund Huskies
I have some more photos of Friday that I shot this afternoon.
Here is the best profile shot I could get of him. He is constantly moving so it's a hard view to capture.
I shot these images just after moving Friday from a pen he was sharing with Seamus to a post and swivel tether. Here is one of Friday meeting his 'new' neighbor, Capella.
When he's confined on a tether, Friday is very adept at doing the 'Prairie Dog" thing, balancing on his hind legs and using the chain as a sort of guy-line. He thinks it's a really neat trick.
Here is one of Friday just being cute.
Nettle, there is a description of 'typical' Hedlund Husky temperament in the description on the Hedlund Husky Preservation Project web page at http://www.hedlundhusky.com/Hedlund%20Details.htm
