At the bit he most enjoys a good brushing, obviously

Pixie is gorgeous and looks nice and trim, going from the shot from above :D I shuddered at the pic of her round worm-filled tummy though :(

Now that Pixie is bigger, thought I'd update some new pics. She's very hard to get a pic of though! So many are just a blur...

Hope you can make out how LONG her tail is on some of these, it's way too long for her body, but adorable all the same.

And one from last year of me working with both of them. They were so good!

Thank you! :D I certainly think so! Technically Jack is a Springer Cocker cross, but he looks purebred Springer. Springers vary so much as well in terms of looks and size, I think they're one of the breeds with the most variability. It's also not that long relatively speaking since Springers and Cockers would come from the same litter and just be divided up according to size!

Can't believe he's turning 8 this month. It cannot possibly be eight years since I held this tiny puppy in my arms as he slept the whole way to his new home.

Still convinced that Pixie is crossed with another mystery breed, but lord knows what. She hasn't feathered as much as most Springers (just as well as she doesn't have much patience for grooming), and there's just something about her face that suggests another breed to me. She's fairly leggy, and with her long tail, curved waist and propensity to just run and run, sometimes I think perhaps whippet.

One day, I will give one of those breed DNA tests a go, unreliable as they may be. Who knows, by the time I get around to it, they might be more accurate.

For those of you who are good at guess the breed, please suggest areas you'd need close up shots of, like paws and profile or whatever might help!

I didn't know that about cockers and springers  They do vary a lot and I think a lot of the mixes look just like purebreds which makes it every more confusing.

I've not seen her for a while but I know a tiny little springer, Amber, she's tan and white with amber eyes and she is about the size of Ted (I kid you not), she is absolutely delightful, her mom is a dog walker and Amber basically walks all day every day :D

Thanks Diane! :D

The Jack-a-boo has a gorgeous nature. He's quite nervy and lacking in confidence on the whole, but so keen to please, and happy generally. I love it when he does truly relax and enjoy himself.

Jack looks like a show springer, and Pixie looks more like a working springer/cocker which seem to usually have shorter ears and will be more leggy too.
Have you found Pixie the more energetic?

Bendog, yes, Pixie is the far more energetic of the two. Slightly unfair comparison since she's 17 months old and he's just turned eight, but even as a puppy Jack wasn't as energetic as she is.

Funnily enough, Jack is the Springer/Cocker cross who came from a farm, while Pixie came from an awful backyard breeder who swore she was full Springer. Not that I trust their opinion, and since we couldn't see either parent, I imagine there is a reason we couldn't see them. I think you're right though that she must come from a working line, based on her physical appearance and her high energy and drive.

Rachel, thank you! I love their faces too, and labs, because they so often look like they're smiling! And both breeds seem to ooze happiness out of every pore.
