Tinkerbell's Story

Post by wickedhippy »

So I'm settled into my new digs in Vegas - and during the weeks directly after I moved in, others were moving out (not because of me, lol, it was a coincidence.) Anyway, people have a terrible habit of abandoning dogs in Las Vegas (and probably other places too) - and one of the dogs that was abandoned in my neighborhood was a 3lb, 2.5 year old tea-cup Chihuahua. I took her inside to wait for Animal Control, and the first thing she did was start playing with my two cats... it was adorable. Needless to say, I've kept her. Have had her for 6 weeks now, have named her TInkerbell, and she's just awesome. She has taken to R+ training like a champ (she already knows sit, stay, come, and is a whiz on walking on a loose leash - and this without knowing even the basics when I first brought her in!), and my cats have adopted her as well - probably because both of them are bigger than she is, lol. I could go into a rant about people abandoning animals like Tinkerbell, but there's not enough room here to hold everything I would want to say... however, I think it's disgusting when it happens, and people that do it should be tracked down and arrested for animal abuse.

But... here is my little Tinkerbell - and yes, she has had her shots, has been fixed, and she's also micro-chipped:

Yay, another chi :D

Ted's close to 6lb so Tinkerbell must be a very tiny pocket rocket :D I read somewhere that there were more chis abandoned in LA than any other type of dog, not sure how true that is but she's lucky she found you :D

She's a tea-cup, so yes, she is very small.

It's unfortunate that the bigger cities seem to have this abandonment issue so badly...

Here in Vegas the shelters are over-run with Pit Bulls and Chihuahuas - and Craigslist is overflowing with more people breeding and selling them here. It's tragic.

I feel that I am the lucky one to have her actually. :D
