My dogs - Opal, Onyx, and Marble

Post by Erica »

Firstly, here is my German Shepherd Opal running in slow-motion - I'll have more videos of her later. She's a camera hog, haha...so active and pretty! :)

Our Onyx...he's about 12 now - got him at Thanksgiving in 1999. He's some kind of mutt - no idea which breeds - but he's the sweetest dog ever. If he were at all motivated, we could do some INTENSE obedience or something...he's really intelligent. He just has no energy! Haha. :)

Image
Here's the Alaskan Malamute I dogsit for, named Amadeus. He's intelligent, too, and learns quickly - it's getting him to listen that's the trouble. ;) I've target-trained him, and am thinking of what to do with him next. Right now I'm getting him to appreciate grooming. I can get a bowling-ball sized ball of dense fur in about 10 minutes off of him...or I could, if I hadn't groomed all the easy areas. Now what remains are his armpits and belly, which he's apprehensive about me brushing thoroughly. More cheese is in order!

And Zeus, who lives with Amadeus. He's slow to learn, but not completely hopeless. It just takes a LOT of repetition, and making sure you don't move to fast. He was target trained as well, but doesn't understand that he might have to move more than his head to reach the target. Ami's up to obstacle courses...heh.

Gorgeous dogs, we have the squeaky stoat (that's in the second picture) but a cream coloured version, one of the pup's favourite toys. Love the names of your dogs by the way x

Oh yes, that squeaky is one of Opal's favorites too. :) Her absolute favorite is her rope (not a short one, about 6' long and used like a flirtpole, also like in the second video), her next favorites are her food toys (not a normal kong, but a Wobbler and another brain-food toy), and then her purple hot dog (at least, that's what we call it! :) ).

Thank you! We like having nice names for our pups. :)

This has got to be the funniest picture I've ever gotten of either of them. Just...their faces! I saw it and started laughing. :)

Image

The girls playing out in their playpen.

Image

Image

Then we came inside because it got too dark. :)

Image

Marble likes to wiggle around on her back.

Image

I caught the bumblebee mid-flight!

Image

Playing with the bee that's inside the dinosaur.

Image

More playing.

Image

Snarly face!

Image

I have a toy and you don't!

Image

All three of us with the same toy. That lasted for about one second. ;)

Image

Marble is reaaalllyyy lazy.

Image

Opal wants me to play with her. <3

Image

Onyx chilling out by the shed.

Image

More of the teddy-face puppy. <3

Image

His ears are indecisive. Sometimes up, sometimes down, sometimes half-prick....

Image

Onyx is just such a sweet teddy bear. He's allowed out by himself because all he does is lay under either his bush, his other bush, those other bushes, or by that one stump. If the next-door kids (a pair of 1 year-old twins, so accompanied by their parents) see him out there, they'll come over and sit by him...they don't always pet him, just sit by him and watch what he's watching.

Image

Here's Marble looking noble. :)

Just a few choice pics from this month:

Marble makes herself comfortable.

Opal...umm, dunno if you can call that comfortable. ;) Completely adorable and rather funny, of course!

Marble on the couch again. :)

I agree, love the close up pictures of Onyx!

But Marble is a sweetie, and have always had a soft spot for German Shepherds :D

Your dogs are so adorable! I like the one picture where the one dog (I think is Marble) is sleeping with part of its head under the chair; it's like its saying "No pictures now, I'm sleeping!"

That was probably Opal; she loves to be enclosed when she sleeps - corners, crates, or if she can't manage those she'll just stick her head under something. x3
