The KC mate select is based on entering the dame and sires pedigree names and it is based on pedigrees and the last 5 generations.

Aaah, a 5 generation pedigree definitely weights it a lot lower than it actually is. Take this graph from the site I linked earlier:
Image

The green line, the 5 generation pedigree, puts the inbreeding of the Papillon at 4.5% in 2020.

The 10 generation pedigree, the red line, puts it at around 6%.

The COI calculated from all available pedigree information puts it at around 8.5%.

Genetic testing puts it at nearly 20%, about twice what the full pedigree shows and four times what a 5 generation pedigree shows!

That makes a lot more sense now. :)

So with all this information how to I use to make sure I get a Golden retriever puppy that is not only from a good breeder but who is also not overly interbred? Is that even possible?
