What is my new client's puppy?

Post by OnceInAWeil »

Client got a dog from what I think was probably a BYB or puppy mill. Responded to an ad on Craigslist for lab/golden puppies, complete with pics of the lab "mother" and golden retriever "father". Met in a parking lot and paid for the puppy.

Definitely don't think there is any GR in this dog. Maybe lab, but mixed with what? She is supposed to be 11 weeks tomorrow.

She isn't going to get much bigger with those size paws.

The ears are wrong for lab and GR

The tail is wrong for lab and GR

Putty nose you do get but it's frowned upon

That's what she isn't  doesn't help much with what she is.

She sits like a dog with bad hips and she looks as if she could do with worming but I hope I'm wrong in each case. I'm sure owner will worm but keep an eye on those hips. Might just be puppyishness but if she always sits that way it isn't good.

I'll talk to her about both. Puppy has another checkup soon so easy enough.

Think there could be some chi?

I knew he reminded me of someone! This is Jodieohdoh's Ruaraidh, but the similarity is probably just down to the expression and pose:

His breeding is debatable as well, so that's not a lot of use...

Difficult to get an idea of size as there is nothing near the puppy to give me a clue. If eyes do not change to brown in a week or so (when the tapetum matures) pup could be younger than stated.

Looks a nice little creature :) Despite doing everything wrong, she could still have a good dog there.

Well, the owner didn't remember how much work puppies were and opted not to keep her. At least she figured it out while the pup was still young.
