Finnally walkin the dogs now!!

Post by sj96skittles »

It's been 4ever sconce we had walked the dogs. Now our mom is letting me walk them With my sister every day when I come homefrm swimming! We accually want to walk them! They used to pull so much they choked themselves!! But now when we walk them more they're not pulling as bad. They bark at other dogs though. I think only bigger dogs cuz we have a neigbor with a great dane. They bark at it but we have another neigbor with a chihuahua but they don't bark at the chihuahua. They bark athe great Dane but not the chihuahua. But idk which tecnique I should use.

It's wonderful that your mom is letting you walk your dogs now, and that they aren't pulling as much as a result. I'm so happy for you AND your dogs! (And I bet Mom will be happy too, knowing you girls are safe, and that you aren't going to get dragged down the road by your dogs pulling). 8)

My dogs sometimes react to some dogs, and not others. I still have not figured out how to predict which ones, but if the neighbor dogs are being quiet, then my dogs won't start the argument. I think it might have something to do with what the other dog is saying to them, and/or the lunging at their fences to get out. Like I said, sometimes my dogs will just walk on by, not paying any mind to the silly barking dogs, yet others my Annie will holler back-- I figure the other dog must have said something rude, because she uses her deep, "I'm going to kick your butt" bark. Regardless, of the cause, I just keep a secure hold on the leashes and keep moving (I have a lot of upper body strength, though, so I can do that). Once we get past the barking, lunging, dogs, my own dogs settle down and forget all about what just happened. On the ones they don't react to, we just mosey along as though we were deaf, lol. Sometimes Annie will pause to look at the other dog, as if to say, "WHAT is YOUR problem!?" before continuing on our merry way. 8)

I'm sorry, I don't have a real concrete method for you, but I'm sure a few of the others will be able to offer some great ideas. I just don't let it bother us that much-- that's my "method," such as it is. :P

My mom doesn't let me walk the dog by myself anymore because she's scared someone's gonna snatch me.

Don'tpugme, you mean you're just a kid? Seriously, I thought you were a grown-up, in college, married, etc. ! Wow, you are very "old" for your age, lol. And your mom is right to be concerned, especially in this day and age. I remember when I was just a little girl, in the 70's, and living in Las Vegas, Nevada (aka "Sin City"), if I was even a few minutes late getting home from school, my mom came looking for me-- and the school was literally just around the corner! It's a shame the world has to be such a dangerous place for our little ones, that we almost don't even dare to let them play in the front yard without a police escort, much less take the dog for a walk! :(

Yup, not a young kid, though. I'm in middle school.

@Fundog ya. When they see a dog start barking they bark and lunge but I walk them away frm the dog. And eventuallythey stop barking and keep walking. To stop the pulling idk if I should use a head collar or a harness!!
