Re: The Ethical Dog
Very heavy on the anthropomorphism there!
Although there are many occasions where dogs can be seen to have what appears to be natural good manners - it is also natural for dogs to attack the old, sick and weak, sometimes killing them, to fight hard over territory and resources to the point of killing rivals, to kill pups, to surplus-kill when they hunt ie kill more than they need for food, to attack any dog they perceive to be weaker or in the wrong place, to eat all the food, to sleep in the best place, to pee and poo anywhere they don't eat or sleep, and to be extremely promiscuous, with no incest taboo.
These behaviours are natural and normal and we have to know they exist in order to ensure that they don't appear and cause unhappiness in our lives together.

A dog is never bad or naughty - it is simply being a dog
