Amazing thread. I don't like shock collars, and once got in a very ugly argument with a demonstrator
in a pet store trying to convince me it was the way to go. Very few people have been able to make
me as angry as this man did. I'm sure it is effective; I've touched an electric wire on livestock
fencing, and I'll do anything you want to avoid touching that thing again. Do I feel confident around
it? Big no. Any training 'aid' that works by instilling fear and causing anxiety by its mere presence
is so counterproductive. Sadly, so many people just want the results and don't care about the feelings
of their dogs, or don't understand what they are feeling.
Isn't it sad that this subject even needs to be discussed? I hope that all of us here can help in
changing that.
