Hi,
I have a question my dog Border Collie/Beagle is on a schedule of walks and play and food, for some reason she will literally tear the fuzz off tennis balls she does not eat it, she just pulls it off, she has plenty of other tous like chew sticks etc... why does she do that?
Patricia
My oldest dachshund does the same thing. We don't generally keep anything fuzzy or furry in the house because he rips the hairy parts off and they end up all over the house. For that matter he'll gut any stuffed animal in a hurry.
My friend's sprollie is really funny when she does it, she puts the ball or toy down in the grass and then shreds the grass instead. Mind you, she is the one who will stand for hours waiting for a stone to dare to move so she can give it "The Eye"
The way can be as simple as, because it occupies her/his mind. Kai does this and we are very active with other things, he just likes to do it. I don't give them raw hide bones to chew up so I suspect it is just what he likes to do. So long as the dog is not ingesting it and only makes a mess.
