Well I have been taking my dog to the park, throwing a stick into the water, my dog (on a 16 foot retractable leash) she would run in and get it and bring it back, however I would throw the stick too far!!, so I put on some aqua shoes stood in the water and throw it I found a spot where it gets deep,the dog in only 13" at the shoulder, she ended going out to the deeper water and swims to the stick and comes back, I was not sure if she could do it but she did!!

Sounds like fun! But sticks can be dangerous so maybe try water toys like kongs, etc. for your dog's safety.

It is so nice to hear another dog has found the joy of swiming. I agree, sticks can be dangerous. If you can find something that floats that the dog loves, take that along. My Kai is so ball driven that he will jump in the water and bring it back for you even if it isn't your ball.
