Dog 'Daycare' possibility

Post by Ponies_and_Pups »

G'day all. I am in South Carolina and it has come to my attention that many people that work as do I, suffer the same 'seperation guilt' as I do in leaving our pets for 8 hours of work plus the 1 hour plus commute time. I have 10 acres and have 5 horses, more than enough pasture space and stall in the barn so I have started making and purchasing agility style equipment. Hubby and I have recently cleared out 3/4 acres directly behind the house and I have 1 acre in the front that I can utilize. I was considering after seeing how much fun my Border Collie mix had when i lowered the horse jumps, possibly setting up more equipment and offering a sort of Monday through Friday 'Day Camp' for dogs. I have a pond on the property and wading pools for my dogs, plus the equipment and at 48 years of age am considering it as a 'retirement' career.
I am in a rural area but only 20 minutes from a major City, so drop off or 'delivery' wouldn't be a problem. There are many people in my area alone that work and would more than likely prefer their dogs had something to do during the day other than stare at the walls.
Any thoughts on this?
Cheers

My dog goes to daycare on the 2 days a week that I work full-time (and not from home) - and he loves it. Your situation sounds like a wonderful opportunity, but you need to think about things like insurance, do you know doggie first aid and the like. You might want to check out the website for Pet Sitters International for more ideas and information.

Dog Daycare possibilities

Yes I do understand the insurance and the first aid conditions as I own and operate an Equine Post Op Care and Rehabilitation Facility on my property. I am an Equine Rehabilitation Specialist and actually teach equine and canine first aid etc.
I thank you for the pet sitter site and will look into their operation and thus get a better idea of how they proceeded with this.
Thank you again
