Yep, it's happened to me a few times recently. I assumed that my dynamic IP had changed to one that someone had posted spam from and got it banned, but I made a note of my IP address and found that the one I had where it said I was banned was the one I had when it let me log back on again...

Emailed admin at [email protected] but had no response.

I asked on another forum why this might happen and got this reply:
a) Your ISP might be effectively hiding you, and all their customers behind some sort of giant gateway machine, with multiple "public facing " IP addresses that it dynamically allocates to TCP connections. If you happen to hit a public facing IP address that has been "banned", you'll be banned too. When you try again a few minutes later, you get allocated a different, non-banned public facing IP address and all is fine.

b) You're talking IPv6 whilst the server talks IPv4 and its having to go through a 6to4 gateway with a similar issue to (a),

c) You and/or the remote server can talk IPv4 and IPv6 and one form of address is "banned" and the other isn't and you're getting different address formats from a round robin DNS server somewhere.

d) You have multiple IP addresses, and only one of those matches a "banned" address. For example if you're at home on a wired connection, but can also "see" a nearby wifi access point that is either open or you have credentials for (a neighbour, or nearby library/coffee shop/etc). If its a marginal connection you might even swap between them without noticing.
Now, how admin would go about diagnosing and fixing that is another matter......

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much... several times now I've been banned but can log on a few minutes later without any contact with admin.
