Idk how accurate this vid is but its cool to look at all the same! (and confirmed Bax's Terrier "Business Trot" IS a trot if this vid is to be believed)

Couldn't read the comments/writing, but on the pics - which are very well done -
Correct gaits are: walk - four-time i.e. one leg off the ground at any one time
Trot - two-time - diagonally opposite legs off the ground at any one time
Canter - three-time as shown
Gallop in the dog has a double suspension - twice in each stride all 4 legs are off the ground. Many breeds cannot attain this because of unnatural conformation. A dog has to be shaped like a dog to gallop.
Amble and pace are unnatural gaits and often a warning of unsoundness, such as cruciate ligament, hip or spinal damage.

Re: Dog Gait
I actually heard once that only sighthounds could achieve double suspension and that was what made them such good racers. is this true?

Re: Dog Gait
Any dog-shaped dogs can gallop in double suspension, but of course those bred to gallop will show the gait in a way that more people can see. Otherwise a camera shows it best.
Horses do a single-suspension gallop because they don't have the bendy spine that dogs have.

What does it say about me that I love that the artist made the dog visibly unneutered?
