Bandit afraid of the doggie day care?
My dog loves playing with other dogs and loves being in social settings such as the dog park we take him to frequently. We have a doggy day care that is very nice, but he seems frightened every time we take him there. He's so scared of it that every time we put his harness on to take him to the dog park, or a walk, or anywhere else that he absolutely enjoys, he shakes and tries to run from it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can assure him that we are not going to take him somewhere bad? Thank you so much!
Re: Bandit afraid of the doggie day care?
You need to address why he's afraid of doggy day care. How is he when he gets to the door? What is he like when he enters and sees the other dogs? Have you ever hung around there and watched how/if he interacts with the other dogs? What have the staff told you about how he is?
What is he like when left on his own at home, and how long do you leave him for? If he's not enjoying the day care and is OK being left, a better option might be to leave him at home and maybe have someone come in to play with him and/or walk him halfway through.
