Very interesting! I wouldn't have thought that they could gather that kind of data on 2 month old.

At first glance (not read in detail) it seems a very competent survey. Those of us who have bred litters (me and gwd for starters  ) know that pups show clear personality differences right from the start, even before eyes open. Not all breeders spend vast amounts of time looking at/interacting with their puppies, though.

Nettle, there are a lot of studies that could have saved a lot of money if they'd but asked a dog breeder. We know our puppies inside and out being we spend almost every moment with them from the moment they were wet to the point where they go to their new homes. We know which ones are the life of the party, which ones want to sit and observe for a moment before they engage .........and most importantly, which will fit in with the list of owners we have. Unlike the study, we have the opportunity to know about the personalities of the dogs until their last breath. There are very few puppies that are sold that new owners drop off the face of the earth.

Ain't that the truth. Scientists could save a lot of time re-inventing the wheel if they'd only study real dogs and dog people who are there at the time. And all that time spent watching wolves when nobody appears to have studied packs of hounds.
